Sea Cadets for Tall Ships Sponsorship 2025

The Seven Incorporated Trades of Aberdeen via The Trades Widows' Fund Charity are ecstatic to sponsor two leading cadets from the Sea Cadets - Aberdeen, T.S Scylla to join the MSCC flagship T.S Royalist during the Tall Ships Races.

Thomas Milne and Krists Varganov are set to sail from Dunkirk, arriving a week later in Aberdeen.

Onboard the T.S. Royalist they will experience a life changing trip on which they will learn and develop new nautical skills and gain first-hand experience of life at sea. In addition, they will improve other life skills they have learnt at Sea Cadets such as team building and leadership and will create lifelong friendships.

This trip will be truly unique as they will be participating in the Tall Ships Races and will sail to their home port alongside at least 50 other sailing ships.

Best wishes to both for a safe and fun journey - Smooth Sailing!

Somebody Cares Aberdeen is a long‑established local charity, founded in 2002, dedicated to supporting people across the city who are experiencing hardship. It provides free food, furniture, clothing, and essential household items to individuals and families in crisis, while also running a busy foodbank and a large-scale donation and redistribution operation. The organisation focuses on dignity, empathy, and practical help—furnishing homes, reducing food poverty, offering reintegration support, developing volunteers, and preventing usable goods from going to landfill. Its work is rooted in the belief that the best way to help a city is to love it, and that everyone deserves comfort, respect, and a fresh start. On the day, an incredible 1000kgs of food was moved and donations organised just ahead of Christmas. It was both heart warming and amazing to see the impact that Somebody Cares has on the community.
