Grampian Women's Aid Donation 2025
A donation of £2,600 was given to Grampian Women's Aid following an application to support specialist services to women where English is not their first language.
Grampian Women's Aid said: "We understand the incredible challenges and disadvantages women face to access support when language is a barrier to communication. Therefore, we extend our gratitude to the trustees of Trades Widows’ Fund Charity who share this recognition and stand beside us with this funding award. We will use the funds to access professional interpretation services to aid support provision, and we will produce specialist information leaflets and resources in multiple languages, empowering women to better understand; their options, their rights and choose their own pathway for support during their recovery from the impacts of domestic abuse.
Support from local organisations such as The Trades Widows' Fund Charity is vitally important to the continued work of specialist local organisations like GWA and to those living in our communities. We are thankful to those who share our vision of ‘Working Together To Make A Difference’ as we continue to endeavour with the aim for our community to be free of domestic abuse and where women and children live safely without fear."

Somebody Cares Aberdeen is a long‑established local charity, founded in 2002, dedicated to supporting people across the city who are experiencing hardship. It provides free food, furniture, clothing, and essential household items to individuals and families in crisis, while also running a busy foodbank and a large-scale donation and redistribution operation. The organisation focuses on dignity, empathy, and practical help—furnishing homes, reducing food poverty, offering reintegration support, developing volunteers, and preventing usable goods from going to landfill. Its work is rooted in the belief that the best way to help a city is to love it, and that everyone deserves comfort, respect, and a fresh start. On the day, an incredible 1000kgs of food was moved and donations organised just ahead of Christmas. It was both heart warming and amazing to see the impact that Somebody Cares has on the community.
